The "fizz" is a category of cocktails which features a premium gin alongside citrus flavors, sugar and sparkling water. Some might say it resembles a "sour" with soda; and they would be right. In fact - both drinks commonly contain egg whites too. Gin Fizz first appeared in the 1876 edition of “The Bar-tenders Guide” by Jerry Thomas. Essentially, it is a uniquely frothy, tickle-inducing-bubbly, high-protein step-child to the Tom Collins cocktail The Tom Collins cocktail combines gin, lemon, sugar and soda. Just no egg.
