Heigold Old Fashioned Cocktail Recipe
Rabbit Hole Distillery
1/2 teaspoon pure white cane sugar
- 3 dashes Angostura bitters
1 teaspoon Kentucky limestone water
2 ounces Heigold (High Rye Double Malt) bourbon
Garnish: orange peel using vegetable slicer
Add the sugar and bitters to a rocks glass, then add the water, and stir until the sugar is nearly dissolved (still may seem a little grainy - this is fine).
Next, fill the rocks glass with large ice cubes, add the bourbon, and gently stir to combine.
Express the oil of an orange peel over the glass, then drop in (bend the peel and thereby releasing essential orange oils and flavor).
Garnish with maraschino cherry (cocktail cherry) and a drop or two of cherry syrup from jar.

Classic Old Fashioned cocktail recipe using Heigold High Rye Double Malt Bourbon.
The old fashioned is the name of a popular cocktail that is made by first muddling (gently smashing or crushing) cane sugar with bitters and water, and then next adding whiskey (typically rye or bourbon), and finally (optionally) garnishing with orange slice or zest and a cocktail maraschino cherry. An Old Fashioned Cocktail is traditionally served in an "old fashioned glass" (also known as rocks glass).
The Old Fashioned cocktail was further developed and experimented with during the 19th century but officially given its name sometime in the mid 1800s. Legend has it, The Pendennis Club, (a gentlemen's club founded in 1881 in Louisville, Kentucky), claims that the old-fashioned cocktail was their invention.
There are many variations of the Old Fashioned Cocktail; some using spirits other than bourbon or rye. However, the pure and original version always used premium bourbons and rye.
